Ok... so I don't want to be a music NAZI or anything, but do any of you ever feel cheated when you're listening to this great new band that NOBODY has heard of and then out of NO WHERE they start playing it on the radio like 10 BILLION times a day! Then everyone's like "yeah they're great blah blah blah" and you just wanna say "I KNEW ABOUT THEM FIRST!!!!!"
I'm selfish when it comes to my music... sorry for the internet yelling...
Anyway, that's happened several times to me with people like Feist, Kings of Leon, Lilly Allen... am I the only one who suffers from this??
If I am, please comment anyway because I want extra credit. :)
And just for the hell of it everyone should include their top 3 bands/singers just to see what everyone likes :) :) Thanks gang!

I totally know what you mean!!! It drives me crazy, and then no one believes you that you knew about them first! I would have to say that I'm a Rascal Flatts, Craig Morgan, Trade Adkins kinda girl :o)

This happens to me a lot. I grew up in Alton and had some friends who worked at LCCC 89.9 so I got to meet a lot of local bands that way and then all of the sudden, they're not local bands any more. The same thing happens to me up in Chicago too. Or how you like bands that were popular back in the 60's, 70's, or 80's before anyone else did and now all of the sudden is now cool to like these bands. Grrrrr.

it doesn't happen to me so much just because music isn't a huge part of my life. I enjoy it, but I don't go searching for new stuff to listen to. But my best friend gets pissed about this all the time. lol.

I understand completely because that's what happened when I first heard Colbie! I loved her music, and then the Z and every other "poopy pop" station over played it! And they changed the versions, so it totally ruined her music for me.
I was the same way. In 8th grade I loved John Mayer and All American Rejects and everyone made fun of me till they hit the radio. Now, all the bands I like that aren't really popular yet I listen to them like crazy and then hate once everyone likes..I hate overplayed music. P.S. You're from C-dale? I'm from Benton..that I am bragging by any means lol
I agree. My favorite bands are Avenged Sevenfold, Leona Lewis and Dixie Chicks. I know they are different types of music, but, hey, I love almost all music.
Okay remember that I'm really old, but this exact thing happened to me with U2 in 1981. Okay, sure I was 13 years old but it was a big deal. It was like my big secret was let out or something and I was insulted....like I didn't think the "mainstream" was good enough to appreciate them the way they needed to be appreciated.
My new favorite is "Orion Experience" and once Z107 starts playing them, I will cry.

I know what you mean. And then when you tell people hey, yeah i knew about them before the radio started playing all their songs they think your crazy. I hate it. But i would have to say my top three are probably Taylor Swift, Dashboard Confessional, and Rise Against.
This happens to me a lot. One example I can think of is Leona Lewis, se is awesome.
Oh man I am EXACTLY the same way. I'm so defensive about my music. I was definitely that way with OneRepublic.

i hate that too! or you find a good song that you like and they play it 50 billion times so that instead of enjoying the song in reality you actually HATE it! grrr...
Hey girl... yea... man i love those bands too! Or like when you have a good local band and then someone ruins them. I really like sevendust, Fiest, and Crossfade.
I think that is completely selfish. you should be happy that there is a growth of music taste. being a band member I would hate it if someone wanted to keep my music for only themselves and not share it. then you would not be able to have a fan base. the media is a great way to spread new music.

Yeah!!! that happens to me ALL the time!!! it makes me wanna frikin scream!!! the music i listen to is an expression of who i am. and then it gets popular and EVERYONE listens to it cause its popular and it was on the Hit List its like theres no expression or originality in it anymore. its sad. i think it's so upsetting cause its like having something that WAS yours taken away. its RUINEDDDD!!! lol... ok maybe not that bad but still. I'm a writer/singer and the music i write i DONT want to turn mainstream. i would love nothing more then to have a small group of people be able to have it as their own and keep it amazing and unique.
